To continuously optimize the performance of LED transparent screens, LED display manufacturers have developed two packaging formats: positive light emission and side light emission, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. The packaging method for conventional LED transparent screens is SMD, while some LED display manufacturers have developed COB packaged LED transparent displays. Therefore, the horizontal spacing and vertical spacing of transparent high-definition LED displays are different, and the back is made of acrylic glass, so its light transmittance is generally above 60%. Due to the small thickness and light weight of the screen, it occupies less space and can be installed with a simple steel structure, making maintenance convenient and efficient, and saving installation costs. In addition, due to its small number of light beads, the entire screen has low power consumption, energy saving and environmental protection, and simple operation. It is generally used in glass curtain walls, advertising windows, exhibition displays, stage design fields, large shopping malls, new retail, science and technology museums, large-scale events, and electronic competitions.


Modern architecture mainly relies on glass curtain walls with good transparency, although conventional LED electronic screens have become the darling of outdoor advertising media and have a certain say in the market. However, due to its high vacancy rate, black screen, complex installation structure, and color blocks, which seriously affect the city's appearance, some screens have been forcibly removed or closed for rectification. This will be a great opportunity for LED display manufacturers to promote the development of LED transparent screens, and LED transparent screens can be installed indoors and viewed outdoors, reducing the approval process for outdoor advertising installation without affecting the overall urban appearance. Even industry insiders have pointed out that LED transparent screens will replace the market share of LED outdoor displays, but in fact, the market demand for transparent LED electronic large screens is still not particularly ideal.


The main reason is that, firstly, LED transparent screens belong to a niche product, and regardless of the advantages of transparent high-definition LED displays, their market demand has certain limitations. In addition, LED display manufacturers that produce transparent high-definition LED displays have not formed large-scale mass production, resulting in high market prices, so their market demand is relatively low. If LED screen companies can establish standardized production and significantly reduce prices, their market demand will increase.


The second is that the clarity and transparency of transparent LED electronic screens are mutually exclusive. If transparency is desired, clarity must be sacrificed; otherwise, transparency must be sacrificed. For customers who are already accustomed to the high-definition and delicate picture quality brought by high-definition LED displays, the clarity of transparent LED screens is far from comparable to that of conventional LED displays. Therefore, many customers are still in a wait-and-see attitude.


The third reason is due to the inherent market position of traditional LED electronic screens. Although some screens have been forcibly removed due to factors such as urban appearance, they still cannot shake the position of conventional screens in outdoor advertising media. In addition, outdoor small pitch LED displays developed by LED display manufacturers are highly favored by advertising media due to their high-definition and delicate features, high contrast, close viewing distance, and high grayscale levels. Fourthly, in the development process of early LED transparent screens, due to their own immature technology and processes, there were no successful cases to draw on. Although LED screen companies continue to optimize their products in the future, there are still certain constraints.


Fifthly, LED transparent screens are not only constrained by the conventional LED electronic large screen market, but also face competition from other display products. For example, holographic fan screens have fewer light beads, no installation required, plug and play, are lighter and smaller, can be placed anywhere, and save labor and power costs. And this holographic fan screen can also play various 3D stereoscopic effects, which is more favored by customers.


This is also the main reason why although LED transparent screens are popular, the market demand is not high. However, it cannot be said that the development prospects of transparent LED screens are limited, but rather that major LED screen companies need to deeply cultivate this niche market. To avoid the homogenization deadlock of transparent LED screens, LED display manufacturers integrate and develop other technologies on the basis of transparent screens, and pay more attention to comprehensive solutions. We can also leverage the growing market demand for transparent screens through night tourism economy and landscape displays, in order to gain more market resources for enterprises.
